The Man Behind the Faces is a far ranging and deeply personal conversation with controversial Detroit street artist Tyree Guyton. The history of the Heidelberg Project, including legal battles, pitched conflict with the adjoining neighborhood and paradoxical recognition by the world art community is explored. On the 30th anniversary, April 6 2016, Tyree Guyton began dismantling his outdoor urban art installation. Wrung dry by the fires, demolitions and vandalism, he unapologetically presents his case that art is medicine to the human spirit and as such must be provocative and disruptive.
